    Tānoa. Kava bowl. tānoa are primarily used in the preparation of the 'ava(kava) beverage for the 'ava ceremony and other formal occasions. Anywhere that 'ava is going to be served the tānoa will be used to prepare and distribute it. Made from wood, this tānoa is circular in shape, dark brown in colour, smooth, polished and has 16 legs.

    In between two of the legs a rectangular protrusion from one leg to another and halfway down in length, indicating that this is the back end of the Tānoa.
