    Worn by Neva Morrison, Officer Commanding NZWAAC (Clerical Division) 2NZEF, Central Mediterranean Forces, Italy

    Neva enlisted from Gisborne as part of the first recruitment of WAACs to serve overseas in the newly established Clerical Division, and spent three years (1943-1946) in Italy at the Administrative Headquarters. While there she was promoted and placed in charge of secretaries throughout Italy.

    Neva’s wartime story is told in her own book, Angel in God's Office: My Wartime Diaries, and also features in the publication War Stories Our Mothers Never Told Us. [Post-war Married name: Neva Clarke McKenna]

    The uniform was worn with pale khaki shirt, dark khaki tie, khaki stockings, brown lace-up shoes, brown leather gloves ^ , widish brimmed khaki hat; hat badge was the solid WAAC one (as enclosed) the other ONWARD badge being worn on the beret worn with other than dress uniform which was mounted against a black diamond [no mounting used with dress uniform badge]; chevrons on arm indicate 4 years service.,
