    Medal awarded to John Rowden, Forest Rangers.

    John Rowden, born on Jersey in1842, enlisted and served from 26th August to 190th November 1863 with the original company of Forest Fangers led by William Jackson. When a 2nd company was raised the original unit was renamed, No 1 Company Forest Rangers and Roden continued to serve with this unit from 17th November 1863 until Nvember 1866. He took part in a number of actions including:

    Lusk's Clearing 8/9/1863, Paparata 13/12/1863, Paterangi 2/1864, Waiari 11/2/1864, and the siege of Orakau 31/3-2/4/1864.
