By the time the first New Zealand branch opened in 1852 it was an established friendly society, providing sickness and death benefits to its members and having a particular concern for widows and orphans. From 1909 their activities were governed by the Friendly Societies Act, which required the compulsory registration of all such societies. The first Auckland Court opened in 1863, and membership reached a peak in the mid 1930s. Since then membership has declined as many of the benevolent functions were taken over by the state.Pāohoclothmetal/inorganic materialmetallic thread/fibreRaraunga Ine470mm400mmHuinga Kaupapafriendly societiesTaumata whakarōpūCollar, FraternalRegaliaStatus SymbolsPersonal Symbols08 Communication ArtifactsWhakahounga o Mua15 May 2023 Tūemi e whai hononga Ngā hua o DigitalNZ Collar Puke Ariki Collars, Detachable, Men's Te Hikoi Museum Collar Fur Collar MOTAT The Southern BlueCollar Band [electronic resource].
