    Adze Fragment (English)

  • Kupu whakaahua

Adze fragment. Toki. Multipurpose tool used for carving wood and other materials. Carved from toka (stone). Brown in colour. Quadrangular cross-section. Broken from below butt (therefore much of the blade is lost, there is no bevel or cutting edge). Butt and poll are intact -- worked surfaces of these are flaked and pecked with low level polishing.
