  • Description

    Rakei ura. Dance costume made of kiriau (hibiscus fibre). The neckline consists of bundles of kiriau wrapped and knotted around 2-ply cotton cords. There are eight kiriau tassles on the front of the dress, and eight kiriau tassles on the back of the dress, decorating neckline area. The dress consists of knotted kiriau forming a mesh top-half and mesh sleeves. There is a gap in the top-centre of the neckline where the cords of the neckline are tied off.

    Both ends of the sleeves and the lower-half of the dress consists of multiple strands of unwoven kiriau.
