The story of Captain Cook's three voyages round the world

documentary heritage
  • Description

The narrative of Captain Cook's discoveries is one full of interest, not only as revealing what at that time were new lands and new people, but as showing with transparent clearness the character of him who accomplished the great work which it records. It is, however, very long; and its length is in part made up of matter not very attractive, either to the general reader or to young folks.

I have, therefore, for the latter more especially, prepared from it this simple story of what the great Captain saw and did in his Three Voyages Round the World. -- Preface
