Kuputuhi e Wātea Tūmatanui ana
Poster for teaching reading with text from Matthew broken into syllables. The text of Matthew 19:13-15 in syllabified Maori produced for use in mission schools.--BiM 16 According to Williams, this is one of two lesson sheets, published probably before the date of the Mission Press. Indexed in in Williams 13(i) ; BiM 16
"From similarities in type and paper with Williams 12/iii (Morning prayer and Evening prayer, in English) that have the Jones colophon, this poster was almost certainly also printed by William Jones, of 10 Bridge Street, Sydney. The date is uncertain, and that in Williams has been followed for lack of other evidence. It is possible that this and [BiM] no. 17 were printed in 1840 for the Wesleyan missionary James Watkin, in the first South Island mission at Waikouaiti, but this cannot be confirmed."--BiM 16
