Provenance: Ellen Mulvany (1821-1900) was the owner of the recipe book which was brought by her to New Zealand in 1878 when most of this branch of the Mulvany family arrived as part of the Ulster Settlement at Katikati per the immigrant ship 'Lady Jocelyn'. It was believed by family that the book was originally started by Ellen's grandmother in Kingstown, Dublin, Ireland, though the date of 1813 suggests it was more likely started by Ellen's own mother, also called Ellen (nee Witton). Ellen Macnamara was the paternal great grandmother of early New Zealand studio weavers Josephine and Sybil Mulvany who together, under the name Taniko Weavers, established the first commercial hand-weaving studio in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1928.
