Una Garlick negatives

documentary heritage
  • Kupu whakaahua

Negatives by Una Garlick span the length of New Zealand from Piwhane/Spirits Bay in the Far North to Rakiura/Stewart Island in the south, predominantly of pastoral and coastal landscapes.

On Garlick's extensive travels throughout New Zealand she captured agricultural scenes and portraits of people going about their work or in their leisure time.

Garlick photographed regattas and the accompanying festivities, considered to be both significant sporting and social events at the time. These include the Ngaruawahia Regatta and those held on the Waitemata Harbour, such as the Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta.

There are a number of street and harbour scenes taken in and overlooking Auckland City.

Exploring the geothermal regions of New Zealand, Garlick participates in and documents the tourism industry in Rotorua, specifically Whakarewarewa.
