Very scratched on the tabua's surface, with deeper scratches and marks around the base of the tabua. A shallow cavity at base end. Threaded through each drilled hole is plant fibre that attaches the main suspension cord of box-braided voivoi fibre (natural in colour).

Several fine scratches and nicks on the tabua's surface with natural grooves in the enamel that are dark coloured. The rim around the base of the tabua is jagged. A rusted metal nail stuck into the cavity at the base of the tabua. A knotted suspension cord of fibre rope secured to the tabua, at the metal nail at the base and through the drilled hole at the tip.

Sourced from a tovuto (sperm whale), the tabua is curved and tapered into a conical shape at its tip, and ovoid in cross section. The outer surface of the tabua is highly polished and yellow in colour, with streakes of brown in the grooves that run the length of the enamel of the tabua. On the tooth's surface are two deep depressions of a dark colour. The rim around the base of the tooth is jagged and thin while the inner cavity of the tabua, reaching up to wards the middle of the interior of the tabua, is conical in shape and dark brown in colour.

Sourced from a tovuto (sperm whale), the tabua is curved with a rounded tip and ovoid in cross section. The outer surface of the tabua is highly polished and a cream-yellow colour as well as areas of grey from the worn scratched surface. Cracked at the rim. The tabua has shallow inner cavity. One of the drilled holes has threaded through it a piece of thin wire, and the other hole is threaded through with cotton twine. each connect up to a suspension cord of red-brown plant fibre that is quite thick in width.

Description: Tabua. Consisting of a tovuto (sperm whale)'s tooth with wa ni tabua (cord of the tabua) attached to the ends of the tooth. Wide root end tapering towards a pointed end. The tabua is light beige/yellow in colour, is of high polish, with a smooth surface with rugged ridges close to the root end. There are two holes drilled, one at each end of the tabua. The wa ni tabua magimagi (cord of the tabua made of coconut sennit), is woven out in a 'chain-like' weave. The magimagi is tied to golden-brown coloured cotton thread, threaded through the hole at the root end, and white cotton thread threaded through the hole at the pointed end. "I L I S O N I" is incised across the tabua.
