Description: "Brothers William and George Winstone emigrated from Somerset, England. William, aged 16, arrived in Auckland in 1859, and in 1861 George, aged 13, emigrated to Queensland, Australia. In 1869 George joined his brother William in Auckland and they formed the partnership of W. & G. Winstone, merchants and carters of coal and wood. Description: "John Bell Richardson and Mary Ann Hay were the parents of Hannah Gertrude Winstone, the wife of George Winstone Junior ... Their first home in New Zealand was at Kaiapoi [outside] Christchurch, following John's appointment to the local circuit. The family moved as the church required and he was posted to different circuits in New Zealand. Together they raised a family of seven children, four of whom reached their majority. John Bell Richardson died aged 41 in the wreck of the S.S. Tararua off Bluff [actually Waipapa Point, off the Catlins] on 29th April 1881 on his way to represent New Zealand at the Australasian Methodist General Conference in Australia. Mary Ann died aged 54 in 1897 in Christchurch."--Page 8.
