'Ula sisi
Description: 'Ula sisi. Neck ornament. 'Ula is a type of Samoan adornment, worn around the neck. It is worn on special occasions, as part of a dance attire and offered as gifts to family, friends and visitors. This 'ula sisi is made up three types of shells: pule (cowrie shell), brown and white univalves, and black univalves. A sharp implement is used to drill two holes through each shell, enabling it to be threaded onto a fibrous string in sections.
