The Mirror : New Zealand's national home journal
Description: 'The Ladies Mirror', for 'fashionable ladies' appeared from 1922 until 1926 when it was continued by the 'Mirror', now subtitled 'New Zealand's National Home Journal'. The magazine was begun by brewing magnate Henry Kelliher and provided a vehicle for his monetary doctrines. It also involved other family members, including Associate Editor, A Kelliher, while the August 1945 cover of a serviceman returning from overseas was painted by Pamela Kelliher. An article about school lunches in that issue noted that the 'Mirror' had been successful in introducing free milk for school children in New Zealand, an initiative later adopted by the first Labour Government.-- 'Fronting Up' by Richard Wolfe, page 59.
