Stingray Ridge

Students surveying Stingray Ridge. The February excavation was on Stingray Ridge where a number of test squares were dug to uncover occupation evidence.

A survey was also carried out of the eroding south face of the site, collecting stone artefacts and oven stones and recording the location of each object using a Leica total station.

Te Mataku and Tamewhera

The June excavation shifted focus to the other side of the island in Coralie Bay where one of the first settlement sites on the island (Te Mataku, T10/358) was being eroded by high tides and wind.

Investigations continued at Te Mataku in November, and also at Tamewhera where a terrace containing a house was excavated.
