A world-first at Auckland Museum

First there was Peter, now meet Barbara. For the first time ever, Auckland Museum is the only place in the world to exhibit an adult male and female T. rex together. Don’t miss two of the rarest, real T. rex skeletons ever discovered.

- One of only three female T. rex on record
- 11.7 metres long and 3.4 metres high
- Recovered from a significant bone fracture
- Gravid (carrying eggs or young) at time of death

- One of only four black T. rex ever found
- Nearly 11 metres in length and 3 metres high
- One of the most complete T. rex skeletons ever found
- Succumbed to injuries likely sustained in an attack

For the past year, ‘Peter’, one of the world’s rarest, most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons, has captured the imagination of visitors to the Museum. Now Peter is being joined by Barbara, an even larger female T. rex with an incredible survival story of her own to tell.

Get ready for double trouble in a world-first of prehistoric proportions. Witness history in the making as Peter and Barbara make their duo debut in Te Ao Mārama South Atrium - the only place you can see an adult male and female T. rex on display together.
