Private Māori cultural performance
The Māori cultural performers at Auckland Museum are considered the best in the country and can be booked for private functions at the Museum or elsewhere.
They carry the blessing of Auckland's local iwi, or tribe, Ngāti Whātua. This means their powerful performances offer a truly authentic Māori cultural experience.

Information to help make your event run smoothly
Auckland Museum contains treasures from across New Zealand and around the world. These must be protected, so events held in our venues require security hosts. They must be onsite for your event from the time you set up until pack out is complete.
You'll find them friendly and unobtrusive - they're there to keep your guests and our venues safe. Security is provided inside the Museum only (not the car park) and is charged at $32 + GST per hour, per host. This cost will be included in wedding and school ball packages.
Smoking and other prohibited items
Smoking, smoke machines, dry ice, naked flames, including candles, and burning substances like incense are not permitted anywhere in the Museum. Helium balloons are also not permitted.
To keep us compliant with all current legislation, you must ensure that all electrical appliances used in the Museum carry current electrical test tags. Any electrical equipment found not displaying these tags will be removed from the building.
Wheelchairs are available (subject to availability) from the security desk in the Atrium.
Auckland Museum's car park is available for your guests at an hourly rate, or a flat rate of $10 per vehicle can be pre-purchased if you are attending an evening function. Entry after 5pm until car park closes.
Note: credit card fees are additional.
Parking is also available near the Museum. Rates for these parks vary, but they are unmetered after 6pm, until midnight.
