Ata Hira Museum on the Move, will be popping up at different landing sites of the Endeavour on its first voyage to Aotearoa.
This pop-up family museum looks at the multiple perspectives of Tupaia’s life in Tahiti, on board the Endeavour and his arrival to Aotearoa.
Drawn from our exhibition Voyage to Aotearoa: Tupaia and the Endeavour, which explores the larger story of Tupaia, Ata Hira Museum on the Move uses key elements of his story to open conversations and create space for discussions and learning.
Ata Hira Museum on the Move will explore who Tupaia was and his importance as an Arioi, artist, navigator and translator.
There will be digital interactives, exploration moments and activities as well as a heap of learning opportunities that will come from unlocking the histories and ideas contained in our national story.
