Meet awesome prehistoric creatures, from cute baby dinos and huge insects, to some of the largest carnivores that have ever walked the planet. Erth’s dinosaurs are unmistakably ‘alive’ and mostly friendly in this fun, educational, and unique performance that will delight all audiences from ages 5 years and up.

Taking centre stage amongst the menagerie of colourful beasts is the breathtaking and formidable Tyrannosaurus rex. Children can watch wide-eyed from a safe distance, or dare to get right up close, and learn how to feed and interact with these giants of bygone eras.

*Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo is recommended for ages 5+. Children aged 4 and under are welcome. However, if you wish your child 4 and under to have their own seat, please purchase them a child 5-13 ticket. Otherwise, they will be expected to sit on an adult’s lap.

What to expect
These sessions have been adapted to be welcoming to people who may prefer a quieter environment, including those who are autistic, neurodiverse, or who become easily overwhelmed.

Our relaxed performances have fewer visitors, quieter music effects, and no loud noises or blackouts. There’s also a quiet area if visitors need to take a break. These sessions will take place each Monday morning during the show's run at 9AM.

To make your visit more comfortable, please bring any comfort items including noise-cancelling headphones, soft toys or sunglasses etc.

To help families plan ahead and know what to expect, we'll provide a social script ahead of time to support your visit.

Doors open 8.30AM
Enter via the South Atrium entrance, Te Ao Mārama. You can access the auditorium by taking the lifts to Level 2; your tickets will be scanned there. Parking around the Museum can be busy during school holidays, so please plan to arrive extra early or take public transport. We recommend you arrive at the auditorium 15 minutes before the show start time.

This show has allocated seating You will choose your seats during the booking process. Shows are approximately 40 minutes long.

Show your ticket at the Museum Store to receive a 10% discount on dinosaur merchandise.

Frequently Asked Questions

 

+Will there be door sales if I have friends who would like to come but haven’t booked?

If we don’t sell out prior to the event, and COVID-19 restrictions permitting, door sales will be available each day at the ticket desks located in Te Ao Mārama South Atrium and Grand Foyer.

+Will there be allocated seating?

Yes, you'll select your seats during the booking process.

+Will there be a coat / bag check?

We have paid electronic self-service lockers in Te Ao Mārama South Atrium, in which you can store your bags and coats, payable by electronic transaction only.

+Will the performers be wearing masks?

The puppeteers who may come out into the audience will be masked, but the host will not be.

+Will my children aged 4 and under have their own seat?

If you wish your younger children to have their own seat, you will need to purchase them a $17.50 ticket of their own. Otherwise, they will be expected to sit on an adult’s knee.

+Will I be able to take photos or videos during the show?

No photography or videos during the show please. 

+Will I be able to leave the show once it’s started, i.e., to go to the bathroom?

Of course, just exit through the door you entered through and ask our event host located at the auditorium entrance to direct you to the bathrooms.

+Will I be able to access to the show if I’m late?

Yes, we will not be operating a lockout policy on the show. Our event host located at the venue entrance will be able to assist you in locating seats.

+How should we get there?

We encourage you to use public and active transport options where possible. Parking at the Museum and in the Domain can be in high demand during busy periods such as school holidays. We also have limited paid parking available in the Museum's underground car park - see here for full details on transport options and parking details.

Please plan to arrive at the Museum at least 30 minutes before the performance starts.

+How do we get into the Museum?

Please enter the Museum via the southern entrance.

Please allow extra time for travel, parking, as school holidays are a peak time at the Museum. Once you have entered the Museum, please take the lifts to Level 2 to our auditorium, where you will be greeted, and your tickets will be scanned. Please have these available either printed or on your mobile device before you arrive.

+Can I eat or drink in the auditorium?

Food and drink are not allowed in the auditorium. You can bring in a water bottle, but if you’d like to eat or drink your own snacks, you can use the quiet area during the show, or the Kai Room located on the ground floor before or after the show.
