Join author and natural science curator Robert Vennell for a discussion of his latest book The Forgotten Forest, a whimsical journey to uncover the overlooked and underappreciated species of the New Zealand bush. Robert will discuss the history, science and significance of these hidden forest dwellers: from mushrooms that changed the course of New Zealand history, to lichens that live for thousands of years to intelligent slime moulds that can navigate their environment in search of food.

About Robert Vennell 

Robert Vennell is the bestselling author of The Meaning of Trees: The history and use of New Zealand's native plants and Secrets of the Sea: The story of New Zealand's native sea creatures. He works as a Project Curator in Natural Sciences at Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum where he is part of the team redeveloping the natural science galleries.
