LIBRARY OPEN FROM 5.30PM – 7.30PM
While we ask you to book a ticket to keep an eye on numbers you can pop in anytime during the evening.
LIBRARY TOURS 5.30PM and 6.30PM
Tours will be 10 to 15 minutes and Madison, our Collections Access Librarian, is around throughout the evening to answer any questions you may have.
CURATORIAL TALKS 6PM and 7PM
Talks will be 10 to 15 minutes and Nina and Finn, our curators, are around throughout the evening to answer any questions you may have.

Meet the speakers
Finn McCahon-Jones is the Senior Collection Manager of the Documentary Heritage collections at Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum. He previously held the roles of Associate Curator Applied Art & Design and Exhibition Curator.
Finn was the Curator / Director at Te Toi Uku Crown Lynn & Clayworks Museum in Auckland. He has a fine arts degree majoring in sculpture from AUT; and recently completed his BA (Hons) in Art History at The University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau. Finn is an alumnus of the prestigious Clark Collection / Creative New Zealand Attingham Summer School scholarship and in 2020 was the Auckland Library Heritage Trust scholar.
Finn is a trustee on the Mackelvie Trust and the Colin McCahon Research and Publication Trust.
Madison facilitates access to the Museum’s diverse and nationally significant Documentary Heritage collections through the Research Library Te Pātaka Mātāpuna. These collections encompass manuscripts, maps, photographs, rare books, periodicals, ephemera, archives, and more.
With a focus on accessibility and engagement, Madison connects researchers, communities, and the public with these resources, supporting a wide range of users and contributing to greater understanding of Aotearoa’s histories and contemporary issues.
Madison holds a Master of Heritage Conservation from the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Anthropology from the University of Waikato Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato.
In Nina’s role as Curator Manuscripts, she is responsible for helping to care for, develop and research Tāmaki Paenga Hira’s manuscript, ephemera, and oral history collections. This collection is extensive – the manuscript collection alone consists of an estimated three million documents. These collections are nationally significant and reflect the diversity of the Museum’s wider collections, spanning social history, Māori and Pasifika taonga, war and conflict, and natural sciences.
Representation, gender, and power are the threads that weave through Nina’s work.
