Members: Pictures Paint a Thousand Words

The Egyptian state began to emerge about the same time proto-hieroglyphs first appeared in ancient Egypt. What began as roughly executed signs with little evidence of a grammar became fully fledged by 3000 BC, and with hieroglyphic writing system came bureaucracy and expansion. Join Dr Jennifer Hellum as she explores how the Egyptian language blossomed and how it was used by the earliest Egyptian rulers.
