Transport yourself to a world of ice and snow through the wonder of virtual reality, and explore a day in the life of Australian Antarctic scientists as they research this mysterious continent.

Travel to Antarctica using the latest 360-degree virtual reality technology and follow in the footsteps of the scientists researching this mysterious continent.

Explore Antarctica from a helicopter cockpit and cruise through icy waters to meet a penguin colony.

Visit Davis Station and learn about daily life in these harsh conditions, and marvel at the spectacular southern lights.

Learn-first hand how scientists are understanding climate change, managing ecosystems, researching sustainability and conserving wildlife. With 360-degree camera control and stunning video imagery, this is Antarctica as you’ve never seen it before.

Not recommended for children under the age of 6, people with certain medical conditions; glasses can be worn under the headset, but the focus cannot be adjusted. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please allow up to 30 minutes for the VR experience and plan your visit during peak times. Please arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the session start time. The Experience is being held on Level 2, in the Auditorium. Please follow the signage and meet at the penguin sign next to the Library.

Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. As this is a limited size experience, a ticket must be purchased for admittance into the venue. A GA Museum ticket must be purchased to buy a ticket to attend this event, if you live in Auckland your ticket is complimentary. Please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time. If you are late, the ticket/s will automatically be forfeited, or transferred to another session on the same day, subject to availability.
