Lay a poppy
This is my father's only brother, he was a year or so older than dad, they were both hunter gathers in their early years. When I was a kid Alan was very frugal, .22 bullets were scarce, he would work his way around a brace of rabbits, line them up and drop both with one shot. He had an early model Studebaker and the back was almost the same shape as the front, it was hard to tell if he was coming or going. :-) He was very proud of his latest toy, a one piece tent with inflatable poles, this was back in about 1957. He and his wife Olive erected it on site at the Raglan camping grounds. "Look how quickly this goes up" he said. The next morning I went around to visit them early.... it had a puncture and the tent was at half mast, aaah haar. He and Olive had a paid site they would gold pan on. Olive showed me several large nuggets they had found. They have both passed on now, Olive went last year (2019) aged 100. She never left me any gold! Or anything! Poor me. :-) Fond memories.
