John Joseph Devonport

 Jack went overseas in WWII in 1943 in the 4th Field Ambulance. He was an Assistant Yardman in a timber yard in Greymouth. He had previously had St. John Ambulance training. His military records show that he landed in Egypt in late August 1943, and he served in Italy until he end of the war. He attained the rank of Cpl on 11.02.1945. His final discharge date was 18.03.1946. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star / Italy Star /  War Medal 1939-1945 and New Zealand War Service medal.
