  • It's great to learn about my great grandfather and his experience of war. What a great resource to have for future generations to know a little bit more about their ancestors. (Dad misses his mash potatoes too)

    Report
  • Albert Joseph Dobbs was my Poppa and I wish I had asked him more about his service and written it down as he passed in 1999 before he turned 80. He told us stories about how he was one of the last groups to leave for war as he was a shepherd and he had a wife and children. He served in the support services, often as a cook (he made mean mashed potatoes), and told us stories of riding a motorbike in Egypt and getting fired upon.
    I miss him.
