"Maj. Trewby has rendered five years valuable service covering the campaigns Greece, Crete, Western Desert, Egypt to Tunisia and Italy. Although a NZASC Workshop he fought gallantly as an infantry officer in Crete and was wounded. He has given the NZASC the benefit of his civil experience and ability as qualified steam, petrol, and diesel engineer and rendered service of a very high order. He has by ingenuity and improvisation shown great initiative and ability to overcome difficulties, particularly during the long desert moves when spares were so short. During the last eight months he has commanded a 2nd line ammunition company with distinction maintaining ammunition to forward unites under all conditions. By his drive and devotion to duty surmounting all obstacles of bad weather, mud, snow, thaw etc. his company under his leadership has rendered excellent service. His keenness and efficiency are far above the average and such that even though in serious ill health it has been necessary to force him to relinquish his command. His whole ambition being to forget self at whatever the coat and do his utmost to win the war." Pomeroy and Beattie, p. 309 AWMM
