  • First embarked with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force before transferring to the Royal Air Force and then again to Royal New Zealand Air Force. Served for 20 months with the 2NZEF and 4 years and 121 days with the RAF/RNZAF. Source: Military Personnel File.

    Shot down over Mando, Denmark and survived uninjured aprt from shrapnel wounds. Captured by German soldiers stationed at an outpot on Mando and taken as a Prisoner of War. Family source.

    Interviews with Flight Lieutenant Walshe about his Air Force service are held by the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT), Auckland. AWMM
