  • Attended Rolleston School and Ashburton Technical High School.
    Before the War he was an avid boxer and rugby player. West Coast Middleweight Champion and 23 Battalion Champion.

    Served in Egypt, Syria, Libya and Tunisia. In Tunisia he was shot in the leg and badly wounded - resulting in his leg being amputated below the knee.
    Returned to New Zealand and worked with the disabled servicemen's re-establishment league. AWMM
