  • Mr. and Mrs. Frank Evans. Aberdeen road, have received a message from their son, Corporal Michael Evans, concerning his safe arrival in Britain, after four years as a prisoner of war in Germany. Corporal Evans went overseas with the Third Echelon in August, 1940. and saw service in North Africa and Greece. With a number of other men of the medical service, he volunteered to remain with the wounded in Greece and was taken by the enemy there. For the greater part of his captivity he was confined in Stalag VIIIB. but latterly was transferred to Bohemia. When the evacuation of war prisoners began, he again volunteered to remain with the sick and wounded, and his arrival in Britain was thereby delayed.
