  • Harold’s adoptive parents were Francis Hartley McCall who served in WW1 at Gallipoli and in WW2 as a coast watcher and Stella Muriel McCall (nee Jenkin) from Thames. Harold grew up on his parents’ farm at Amodeo Bay, Coromandel. After his war service in Japan and Korea he worked for many years for the Marine Department, sailing the Hauraki Gulf on The Clematis. Later in his life he married Lillian McCall (nee Hodgson), the widow of his cousin Tom McCall of Point Chevalier.

    Embarked on the SS Ormonde at Wellington as part of the Main Body for Korea, entered Korea 31st December 1950, as Driver/Mechanic, returned to New Zealand on 24th May 1952. AWMM
