    Occupation after returning to New Zealand: Farmed at Incholme, along the Kakanui river North Otago.

    'My father was the youngest of eight children to George Duff GRANT and Mary GRANT nee Mulligan, his Dob: 01 January 1918 and he was named after his mother's brother, Bernard Mulligan, Dob 19 November 1894. Service No. 34878 who was serving with The Otago Infantry Regiment 1st Battalion, in France during World War 1. Bernard Mulligan was killed in action later in 1918 on the 8th October, only a matter of weeks prior to the Armistice 11th November 1918.' AWMM
