  • Major Robert Hardy was commanding officer of the local Tongan defence forces February 1944 - April 1946. Tonga and Fiji both had a large garrison of American and New Zealand forces.

    Items belonging to Major Robert Hardy are on display at the 'Life in the Solomons, War in the Pacific' exhibition of 'Scars on the Heart' gallery in the Auckland War Memorial Museum. They include books, papers and photographs. AWMM
