  • Mrs Alwyn Valerie Goodchild. V.A.D., N.Z.E.F., recently appointed Member of the British Empire Order, works with the N.Z. Mechanical Transport. She began her services at the end of 1914 in Egypt, and remained there for 20 months before coming to England on a troopship with the N.Z.M.T. men. At the completion of two years' service, - she went to France with the British Red Cross and acted as second-in-command of one of their motor units. After six months of this work Mrs Goodchild rejoined the N.Z.E.F., and became a workshop hand at Weybridge, the headquarters of the N.Z.M.T. Recently she was promoted to the rank of charge driver, and is now instructing in tyre and tube repairs (H.F. vulcanising process) in the school of motoring for limbless soldiers (Otago Daily Times, 30 March 1918).
