    News has come to , hand that First Lieut. Geoffrey Sunderland was wounded and missing on September 24. Lieut. Sunderland is the youngest son of Mrs. J. W. Sunderland who for many years resided at Swarthmoor, Patutaihi. He joined King Edward's Horse and went to France as sergeant in October, 1914. He received a commission in the 2nd Royal Sussex in 1915. 'He was wounded in August, 1916. and married two months later. After some months on duty in England he returned to France in June, 1917, and with the exception of two short leaves to England has been in France ever since. For her friends' information Mrs. Sunderland's address is, Mrs J. W. Sunderland. 19 Gloucester street, London, S.W. Mrs Sunderland has two other sons fighting. The eldest Richard, 2nd-Lieut and Marmaduke Ist-Lieut. Public - Lorraine Mona - Researcher - 15 September 2023 - ROLL OF HONOR.

  • Geoffrey SUNDERLAND was born in 1889 in Gisborne, son of John William & Agnes SUNDERLAND of Gisborne (Previously of Lancaster, England) - Geoffrey SUNDERLAND married Grace Lillian TAYLOR at Downs Park, West Bristol, England.

    Also killed in London 1940 was his sisters Joan & Ruth SUNDERLAND from a bomb explosion
