  • Educated at Otago Boys' High School and the Universities of Otago and Melbourne. Son of George Robertson and Elizabeth Hercus (nee Elder). During the First World War he was appointed as a radiography instructor in the Royal Army Medical Corps in Malta before being commissioned in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. He taught at the University of Melbourne in the interwar years and was a member of the Optical Munitions Panel (1940-1945) in the Second World War. Source: R. W.
