    Sister Patricia Hook, DCNZM, was a member of the Sisters of Mercy religious order. An Air Force radio officer during World War II, from 1949 to 1979 she nursed at the Mater in Epsom (now Mercy Hospital), the last 15 years as administrator. She served as vice-president of the Nurses Association, chairwoman of the National Nursing Services Committee and national vice-president of the Private Hospitals Association. In 1983, she established the Mercy Spiritual Life Centre and was director until 1990 AWMM
