  • Daughter of Albert & Ada Everett - of Nelson. Grand-daughter of twice Mayor of Nelson, and Nelson businessman Edward Everett and his wife Hannah (nee Pope).
    7 Everett children served in World War 1 : George (served British Indian Army - at North West Frontier in India. Killed in action 1 May 1917); Gerald (NZFA); Frank (NZFA); twin sisters Claire & Dorothy (New Zealand Nursing Service. Served at England) and step-brother Ralph Watson NZFA (killed in action at the Somme, France 1916).
    Viola served at the Abbassia Hospital, Egypt (1916-1919).
    After war service Viola returned to Australia, in 1919. and continued her career as a Nurse. She was Matron at Kenmore Repatriation Hospital, Brisbane for many years.
