  • Son of George and Jessie Dalton (nee Robson). Educated at Auckland Grammar School and Auckland and Canturbury University Colleges. Rhodes Scholar1937 - eventually attended Oriel College, Oxford in 1939. Married WAAF Catherine Robina, daughter of writer Robert Graves, on 31 January 1942 at Aldershot. He returned to New Zealand in 1946 and became Dean of Engineering at Auckland University College and a member of the New Zealand Defence Scientific Advistory Council.
