  • Son of Walter and Margaret Fell. Educated at Wellington College, New Zealand, Crediton Grammar School, Devon (1914-1915), and the Royal Naval Engineering College, Keyham. Married Phyllis Minday, 1921 (later divorced) and then Jean Dunkerley. Remained in the Royal Navy between the world wars. Commander of the 14th Submarine Flotilla (midget submarines), Second World War. Retired from RN 1947 but continued to work for the Admiralty as a salvage officer [including the Suez Canal] until returning to NZ in retirement in 1960. Public source. AWMM
