  • Peter joined the NZ Army after his National Service call up. He joined RNZIR and left for Malaysia October 1965. There is no record that Peter had compassionate leave. At the army camp in Terendak he had an accident on a motor bike. He died fairly instantly of head wounds. He was then buried in the Terendak service cemetery.

'Peter was very popular amongst his comrades, he was described as a real hard case and good fun.Peter had some hardcase tattoos on his body his mates have a laugh about still.' Public source.

The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) began repatriating the remains of personnel buried in Malaysia during 2018.

This is part of project Te Auraki (The Return), under which the NZDF is bringing home personnel and dependants buried overseas after 1 January, 1955, following a change in Government policy. AWMM
