    • Son of Robert Forrest McKenzie and Harriet Ann McKenzie, of Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand. Source: Commonweath War Graves Commission. AWMM
    • Jack Forrest McKenzie was born in 1906 in Creswick, Victoria, Australia to parents Robert Forrest and Harriet Ann (nee Greaves).

      He moved to Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand with his family in 1917 aged 11.

      He had five sisters, Leila Jean (Jean), Alison Fay (Fay), Mabel, Jeanetta Mary (Molly) and Hazel Margaret.


      In Malayan armed forces (McKenzie, Pte. Jack Forrest, 13601. 4h (Pahang) Bn. Federated Malay States Volunteer Force), he died 22 November, 1943 aged 37 while a prisoner of war while building the Burma Railroad, Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

      He is buried at the Chungkai War Cemetery, Thailand. He has a memorial plaque at Andersons Bay Cemetery, Dunedin (Block 161, plot 17) with his sister Hazel's grave.
