The death occurred in the Cook Hospital on Thursday after a short illness of Mr. Thomas Hickey, aged 43,a former employee of the Public Works Department in the Wairoa district and latterly a member of the armed forces. Some time ago he suffered a fall which affected his health, and though accepted for home service with the army, he continued to decline and eventually was discharged owing to continued ill health He was admitted to hospital onlv a few days before his death. Mr Hickey had two sisters living in Gisborne, Mesdames K. M. Griffiths and E J Curtis. He had other sisters and brothers living in Ireland. He was buried today at the Taruheru Cemetery.
