  • Served in New Guinea maintaining aeroplanes, especially the DC3. Also had pilot's license and flew planes evacuating people from advancing Japanese. After the war, Edgar returned to Melbourne to be with his wife and daughter Alma. He was employed by the Australian Air Force in Melbourne for eighteen months as Beaufort Divison Equipment Liaison Officer, but his parents returned to New Zealand and as an only child he was requested to return to New Zealand. The family returned and to New Zealand in 1947 and welcomed their second daughter Julie. AWMM
