  • During a low level sea patrol off the coast of Capetown Sub-Lieutenant Mason's aircraft a Hellcat MKII suffered engine failure causeing the crew to ditch the aircraft. They spent approximately six and half hours, they were rescued by a South African Fishing Boat and landed on Robin Island, and were collected the following day by SAAF Rescue, Goldfish Club MS-2004-23. AWMM
