    • Keith Larney was educated at Hamilton Technical College. He completed an electrical engineering apprenticeship and gained his pilot's wings with the Empire Flying Scheme prior to WW2. In May 1939 he was selected for a Short Service Commission with the Royal Air Force. He joined 75 NZ Sqn RAF at the start of WW2 flying Wellington Bombers on operations over Germany. On completion of his operational tour with 75 Sqn and award of his DFC, he was seconded to a secret RAF unit working on airborne radar systems being developed to counter German night fighters. He married Pamela, an RAF Met. Officer during the war, in September 1944, in December 1945, they welcomed a daughter Penelope Anne. Keith retired from the RAF in about 1967 and lived in Little Stretton near Shrewsbury. In retirement he continued to serve as a volunteer trustee with the RAF Museum. AWMM
    • In 1966 Squadron leader Larney as a civilian was in charge of all radio radar and navigation equipment at RAF Shawbury as well as Air traffic control Simulators. I was interviewed and employed by him as one of his airfield technicians in the Summer of 1966 and worked under him for seven years, I don't know when he first came to Shawbury but he was certainly there between 1966 and 1973 when I left the company (Marshall of Cambridge LTD).
Squadron leader Larney or Sir as we addressed him was a fine and gentle man, everyone who knew him held him in the highest regard and I am proud to have known and worked for him. Public - Peter - 16 September 2020 - Personal experience
