  • .Pilot Officer DB Wilkie and was a Navigator for Doug Kennedy (Pilot) and Jack Moran (Turret Gunner) in 30 Squadron and Servicing Unit RNZAF and stationed in Bougainville in PNG in 1943/44. He flew operational missions as a Navigator in Grumman Avenger Torpedo Bombers. He was offered retraining in Britain on Mosquito Aircraft. He sailed as senior officer in charge of 12 men on a merchant ship at the age of 20. He kept a diary with many drawings and paintings which is held in the Wigram Airforce Museum.' Family source.
