  • George served with RNZAF in the Pacific during WWII. He was discharged after the war ended, and subsequently re-enlisted two years later, having completed his accountancy degree, at rank of Flight Lieutenant. He was posted to Officers Training School in Whenuapai for three years, and then to RNZAF Base Laucala Bay, Fiji. He died of natural causes in Fiji and was buried in the Suva Military Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Shirley, and son Russell. In 2018 George's body was returned to New Zealand as part of the Te Auraki Repatriation Project, and he was interred in the Waikanae Services Cemetery, Waikanae.

Hugh Kenneth (Ken) Beban 80216, who served overseas with NZ Army during WWII, was George's brother. Hugh and George were cousins of brothers Leo Beban and Patrick James (Paddy) Beban, and Barnett Studholme Beban, Second World War.
