Joan Constance Rowberry served with the Women's Auxiliary Air Force in Laucala Bay, Fiji. She worked in the Meteorlogical Section, observing and plotting weather maps. Weather messages from around the islands were sent to the meteorological office, where they were made into forecasts. These coded messages were then sent back to the post office where they were then sent by Morse Code to the Army, Air Force and Navy Bases.

Joan's fiance and later husband Robert Neil McVicar worked at the Post Office and was one of those who would send these Morse Code messages around to the bases. AWMM
