"This officer has completed a very large number of sorties. During his first tour of duty he was wounded by enemy anti-aircraft fire. Flight Lieutenant Ralph has taken part in many dive-bombing and low level bombing sorties. In attackes on ground targets he has destroyed many more. More recently he took part in attacks on enemy airfields, and during this period he destroyed six more transport vehicles and damaged 18. He also destroyed one enemy aircraft on the ground. Flight Lieutenant Ralph is an outstanding flight commander with a brilliant record." Hanson, p. 406 AWMM
